Launched in 1995 when British sparkling wine seemed far-fetched, Sussex’s successful Ridgeview Wine Estates has proved doubters wrong. Founded by Mike and Chris Roberts, who sensed an opportunity within the chalky soils of South Downs, Ridgeview’s sparkling wine production focuses on the trio of classic Champagne varieties – chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier. Ridgeview are the only English winery ever to win the Decanter Award for “Best Sparkling Wine in the World, including Champagne”, and the only English winery ever to be awarded the IWSC “International Winemakers of the Year”.Among other awards, Decanter magazine named it the best sparkling wine in the world in 2010.
