Two wines in the Crémant de Loire range of the Alliance Loire, the M. Bonnamy Brut and Brut Rosé are great examples of inexpensive yet delicious sparkling wines. The grapes are predominantly grown on various forms of limestone which include most significantly Tufa (meteogene tavertine), the material widely used in the building of many châteaux throughout the Loire Valley.
The Crémant de Loire Brut Rosé is comprised of 100% Cabernet Franc, while the Crémant de Loire Brut is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc. All of the the fruit for M. Bonnamy is hand harvested, gently pressed and fermented at cool temperatures in order to retain the delicate esters and aromatics of the grapes. After an assemblage of the best lots, the wines undergo a second fermentation and aging in the bottle for 12 months before being disgorged.
