Wines of South Africa (WOSA) is a not-for-profit organization representing all South Africa wine producers who export. We’re pleased to be presenting a range of Methode Cap Classique wines. Methode Cap Classique (MCC) is the official designation for traditional method sparkling wines in South Africa, the first New World country to create a designation that doesn’t try to steal the cachet of the word “Champagne.”
Most MCCs are made from the classic varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, though regulations permit the use of some other varieties, including what is becoming South Africa’s signature grape, Chenin Blanc. MCC is the fastest growing category of wine in South Africa, doubling in volume every five years.
