“A native of Los Angeles, Alex Weil has spent close to two decades working in the city’s finest Restaurants and Wine Shops.
His first job in wine was at the renowned Wally’s Wine and Spirits in Westwood, CA. Alex worked in various capacities during his nearly five years at Wally’s, eventually holding the position of Assistant Director of Wine Importing and Wine Futures.
In 2007, Alex traded retail for restaurants, and was hired to work at Chef Nancy Silverton’s Osteria Mozza and its sibling restaurant, Pizzeria Mozza. He quickly became the Wine Director. After earning the “Outstanding Wine Service” award in 2009 from Angeleno Magazine, Alex joined the opening team of Thomas Keller’s Bouchon in Beverly Hills, where he served as Head Sommelier from 2009 until April of 2013.
After having three children and a job building and managing wine collections for private clients, Alex once again returned to the restaurant industry in the spring of 2017 to help open James Beard nominated Raphael Lunetta’s newest restaurant. Alex is currently supporting the wine program on an upcoming restaurant project set to open in 2018. “
